Description

Cellulose is an abundant renewable raw material, which provides a highly sustainable approach to industrial manufacturing. The project will aim to through careful characterization; optimize the processing of cellulose fibres to high surface area, high porosity carbon materials for diverse electrochemical applications. An understanding of how these materials can be functionalised and optimised to target electrochemical applications, especially in the target energy sector. The overall broad objective is to develop new energy-related carbon materials, devices and applications based on cellulose fiber or sheet from cellulose feedstock as an abundant, renewable raw material. Dr Han’s research group in KIER has invaluable expertise in scalable approaches to the processing of cellulose fibre materials, biocomposites, cellulose based carbon material and their applications such as suppoter for catalyzer, CO2 absorbent, etc. and also natural fiber reinforced polymer composites.
