Description

The aim of this research is to develop and test adaptive, high order discontinuous finite element discretizations able to resolve accurately shock waves at a lower computational cost than currently employed low order finite difference and finite volume methods. The developed methods will be applied to a number of computational fluid dynamics problems, including the simulation of various configurations of detonation engines presently being studied in other partner institutions.
