UPM Laser Centre has a remarkable experience in the field of Laser Surface Treatments and Additive Manufacturing and is a leading European Institute in the field of Laser Shock Processing, an advanced technology in the field of Mechanical Engineering for improvement of the fatigue life of high reliability critical components in the Aeronautical, Energy, Automotive and Biomedical sectors.

The 2 positions offered are thematically offered in the field of Energy, with specific consideration of materials normally used or penetrating this sector, namely Titanium alloys for turbine blades, different grades of stainless and low activation steels for nuclear fission/fusion reactors, Ni-Cr base alloys for high temperature applications, etc.

One of the positions will be mainly devoted to the development of advanced methods for the numerical predictive assessment of mechanical effects and fatigue life increase induced by the LSP treatment in specific test specimens and components, while the other one will be specifically devoted to the experimental development of improved strategies for components treatment and of a comprehensive methodology for experimental quality assessment of the treatment process leading to its industrial standardization.
