Description

The majority of energy systems and power plants are now bound to operate with many start-up/shut-down cycles and steep ramps in order to keep competitive on the electricity market, due to increasing cost of fuel and penetration of Renewable Energy Sources. Operating an energy system in dynamic conditions has a predictable impact on its productive structure and then on the final costs of its products: the “real” optimal design of such energy system could be very different from that obtained by a standard Thermoeconomic design optimization procedure.
This research addresses the improvement of standard Thermoeconomic design analysis, introducing dynamic concerns in order to identify the energy system configuration characterized by the greatest flexibility and minimum global costs of products.
