Description

Oil platforms are complex systems where different processes involving dangerous substances occur and energy production is required. The identification of risks is the fundamental step for the final design of the platform, as well as the economic costs of the system products.

Thermoeconomics framework allows to evaluate the cost of system products in terms of both economic expense and risk on human health. With this approach, the optimization of energy system is performed finding the plant design configuration that minimize such costs.
